The velvet underground are named #1 ON TIME OUT NY'S "50 MOST IMPORTANT MUSICIANS"
This is what time Out says about The Velvet underground:
Forget, for a moment, the surly genius of Lou Reed and his songs. Forget John Cale’s experimental background. Forget that the classic Velvet Underground lineup lasted just three years. Forget that Cale and Reed were living and recording on Ludlow Street three decades before it seemed like a good idea. Forget Warhol and the Factory, forget Mo Tucker’s stand-up drumming, forget the shades and the heroin. Just play any of the first three albums. They still sound impossibly cool. The Velvets were born in the space after the Beats and before the hippies, and represented a stern, aloof rejoinder to everything California was spewing at the time. They midwifed the love child of rock and the avant-garde. They remain the ultimate NYC band.
Must-own album: The Velvet Underground & Nico (1967)

Lou Reed talks about his new Photo-book in the Artnewspaper.
This is what they have to say About Lou Reed
Lou Reed has been busy in Tribeca. Not only has he been playing live along with partner Laurie Anderson before a small local audience to mark the opening of the new Canal Park, a verdant triangle which both artists lobbied to get planted, but also snapping surrounding views. This month Reed reveals for the first time his photographic art, mostly images of the Hudson River from the Tribeca corner where he now resides. Two concurrent exhibitions at Hermès and Steven Kasher Gallery coincide with the publication of Lou Reed’s New York (Steidl) and reveal his lyric gift extends to the humble press release. As Lou puts it: “These images are the result of a small attempt to share the beauty that has bedazzled the consciousness of this viewer standing on the edge of the river with a box in hand trying to catch the lightning bolt of time.”
You can view some of the photo's on the website of the Steven Kasher Gallery
We also have a new forum. This new one we will use only for a short while, and soon we will get a new one without add's!!

Lou Reed and David Bowie both worked on the new Grand Kashmir album ‘No Balance Palace’
Lou Reed sings on the track Black Building”. You might wonder how did happened,
This is what it says on the Dutch Grand Kashmir site about the collaboration
"During the mixing session in New York, Kashmir and Visconti played around with an instrumental track, and then decided it would be intriguing to add a spoken role to complete it. Kasper had written a poem, “Black Building”, but the dark, atmospheric track asked for a special kind of voice. They came up with the idea of asking Lou Reed if he would do the part, and he soon returned having decided to join in. His voice truly completes the track “Black Building”, which is found on the new album."
The new album will be released on October 10.

Lou Reed wil muziek theaterstuk Havel schrijven
